Gut Rhythm is incorporated on 21st December, 2022. We target to create and utilize bio-electrical big-data for artificial intelligence drug discovery and safety assessment. Many biotech products in market focus on chemical biomarkers, such as genes, proteins, RNAs. However, some physiological response, such as vomiting and nausea, cannot be predicted by chemical signals, but electrical signals, like slow waves. 

Our technology involves an efficient method to create bio-electrical data from the gut, making use of a microelectrode array system. At top speed, we can finish testing 1 drug, at 3 different concentrations, on 4 tissue types, with 6 experimental repeats to create a final testing report in 1 day. Our automatic analytical pipeline also optimizes data extraction to derive 192 electrical biomarkers per drug. Datasets are then accumulated into a dynamic and sustainable drug database, now storing >9,000 datasets and tested >170 drugs. The database is then applied in training artificial intelligence model to predict drug targets and drug side effects. Our recent prototype can predict gut-related side effects such as vomiting, constipation and diarrhea with 67-80% accuracy. Our technology is currently protected by a provisional patent, while non-provisional US and China patent is currently under review.
